Mitchell International Airport (MKE)

Since 2004, Weiss & Company, in partnership with Harvest PR, has managed marketing efforts to attract northern Illinois travelers to Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International Airport. Our most recent work, under the brand “Fly smart. Fly MKE,” included Internet, radio, print and billboard advertising, as well as special events, publicity efforts and Web site development. The coup de grace of the 2008 campaign was a publicity stunt in which a skywriter spelled out the airport’s Web site domain in the skies above Wrigley Field during a Cubs-White Sox game. Our recent work resulted in a 14% increase of travelers from Illinois from 2007 to 2008, and our effort was recognized by the Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) in its 2008 Excellence in Marketing and Communications Contest.

Under a separate contract, Weiss & Company oversaw a 2008 airport research effort, comprised of both focus groups and telephone surveys, aimed at identifying travel behaviors and perceptions of Milwaukee’s airport among northern Illinois residents.
